Empowering Parents

During this workshop for Parents and Professionals, Nancy Aberle will focus on a few helpful principals and techniques from the "Anat Baniel Method(sm) for Children with Disabilities"and the “Physics of Feldenkrais®” .

- Recognizing if a child's "Learning Switch" is turned on

- Suggesting variations that a child can understand and use

- Even distribution of effort, better use of the extremities and the eyes

- Maximal efficiency with minimal effort

- Improvement through increased complexity

For a better understanding of how to use these principles in daily life we will do movement lessons, watch a lesson with a child and explore some hands-on techniques.

The human nervous system is built to co-ordinate movement and to improve. We will focus on how to help children with disabilities to do this with more ease. Parents and professionals can learn practical ways to use touch, movement and awareness so that a child's brain can change and improve functioning. Adults can learn to recognize if a child's "Learning Switch"* is turned on and can learn to suggest "Variations"* that a child can understand and use.
